Torrey Pines Surf Spot
Not only famous for it's environmental beauty
but Torrey Pines also has some amazing peaks and waves for
us San Diego Surfers to enjoy! These white, sandy beaches
are ideal for a family day of fun or a dawn patrol all by
your lonesome. There are plenty of beach access points and
parking to accommodate whatever your needs may be. So head
on down to Torrey Pines and let us know what you thought of
it!

Location:
Almost the exact mid point of the San Diego
coastline. Torrey Pines is easily accessible from the 5
Freeway or by Old Highway 101.

The Parking Scenario:
There are several separate options when it
comes to parking at Torrey Pines. Each spot can serve as an
easy access point to the beach at Torrey Pines. The options
are as follows:
North Parking Lot:

The North parking lot is located off of
Carmel Valley Road and McGonigle.

South Parking Lot:

The South parking lot is located off of Old
Highway 101 towards the end of Torrey Pines beach.

Roadside Parking:

There is roadside parking located along Old
Highway 101, both to the North of Carmel Valley Road and to
the South of the bridge.

Please take not of where you park. The
roadside parking to the North of Carmel Valley Road is a pay
parking area of $1.50 per hour. Vehicles that don't pay for
parking most likely will be ticketed.
Beach Accessibility and Conveniences:
There
are separate beach access points depending on where you
park. Each point is fairly easy to access.
North
Parking Lot:

For the
North parking lot, simply park your car and walk past the
restrooms and you can't miss the walkway down to the beach.
South
Parking Lot:
For the
South parking lot, park your car and simply walk West down
onto the beach and out into the surf!
Roadside Parking:
To
access the beach from the North roadside parking, park your
vehicle and walk South until you reach the intersection of
Carmel Valley Road and Old Highway 101. The beach access is
a small dirt trail that meanders down the cliff to the
beach.
WARNING: If you decide to take this trail, take extreme
caution crossing the railroad tracks at the bottom of the
trail. The trains can be quiet so please be very careful!

There is
one restroom located at the beach entrance of the North
parking lot. It is maintained by the city and is a clean
working order for all to use. They are locked at sunset.

Lifeguard:
There are lifeguard
towers located at Torrey Pines along the beach. They are
located approximately every one mile up the coastline and
are in full service during the Summer. They are usually
closed up for the Winter months so please be sure to note if
there is a guard on duty before you or your family enter the
water.
