Tamarack Surf Spot
Tamarack is an awesome
wave that is located in Carlsbad. On a good day of surf,
this wave can be filled with people but somehow, it's still
possible to get a good wave to yourself.

Location:
Tamarack is located just
South of the main town of Carlsbad and is one of the best
beach breaks in San Diego. The waves come peeling into this
small beach and lead to some awesome waves for surfer's out
in the water. This is a very easy surf break to get to and
check out the directions below for easy access.

The Parking Scenario:
There is a very ample
parking lot located at Tamarack and it's extremely easy to
access. The parking lot is right on the beach and it tends
not to be full. Make sure to be careful when driving through
the parking lot because the sand can cause the road to be
somewhat slippery.

In the Summer months, the
parking lot can get very crowded so I recommend parking
along Carlsbad Blvd/Old Highway 101 just North of the
Tamarack parking lot.

Beach Accessibility and Conveniences:
The beach is very easy to
access after parking in the Tamarack parking lot. You simple
park and walk to the sand! If the beach in front of Tamarack
is crowded, you can walk North on the beach until you see a
little more room.
Just park and walk onto the
sand!
If the Tamarack parking
lot is full and you have to park on Carlsbad Blvd/Old
Highway 101. There are stairs that lead down to the beach
all the way down this section of coast so don't worry about
having to walk to Tamarack to score a nice place on the
beach and some fun waves.

There are restrooms and a
shower located at Tamarack. The restrooms are just North of
the Tamarack parking lot and towards the top of the cliffs.
There are a set of stairs leading up to them and they are
very easy to find. The restrooms are very well maintained by
the city, same with the stairs and walkways throughout
Carlsbad.

There is also a very nice
shower located at the top of the Tamarack entry way and
right next to the restrooms. Taking a shower after a long
session is one of my favorite things so I've used this more
than a few times.

Lifeguard:
There are lifeguard towers
located throughout Carlsbad and Tamarack has a tower located
right in front of the surf. These lifeguard tower are open
during the Summer months but only occasionally during the
Winter months. make sure to note if there is a lifeguard
working in the tower and take caution either way.
