Tamarack Crowd and Culture

A surfer enjoying the sun
after a good session of surfing
The crowd and culture at
Tamarack is somewhat different from it's surrounding breaks
like the Warm Water Jetties and Terramar. Tamarack is
surrounded by houses, apartments and hotels so expect a some
heads to be in the water when it's pumping. On smaller days,
Tamarack is usually pretty empty so take advantage and get
out there!
There is somewhat of a
"local" crowd that can be sort of intimidating for anyone
paddling out on a good day. Because this break is
surrounding by homes and such, a good number of people surf
this spot everyday and feel that when it gets good. that the
waves are theirs. Unfortunately this happens at some spots
and I've found the best way to deal with localism is to go
out with a very positive attitude and give some waves to the
other surfer's in the lineup. Give a shout or holler and get
a good vibe in the water and you shouldn't have any problems
getting waves.
