Seaside Crowd and Culture
The culture at Seaside is very surf
related and calm. There isn't a great deal of localism but when the surf
does get good and begins to pump, make sure to give respect in the water.
Let the locals know that you're here to surf but not get in the way.
There are several houses
and apartments located just South of Seaside in Solana beach
so there are a lot of people that surf this break everyday
and have it wired perfectly. they know every nook and cranny
of the reef and they know where the next wave is going to
break before it does. Make sure to realize that they have
put a lot of time and effort into this spot and give them
some waves so there are no problems in the water or on the
beach.
Other then that, most of
the surfers that surf Seaside are cool, relaxed and
easygoing. While I was working on the review of Seaside, I
ended up talking with a couple surfers for a while about the
surf and some trips we had been on. It's always awesome to
meet new people, especially surfers that are willing to
share their surfing stories and experiences with a complete
stranger.
