Directions to San Elijo Surf Spot
From the North:

Take the I-5 SOUTH.

Exit Birmingham.
-
Turn RIGHT so you’re heading WEST.
-
Head up and over the hill and continue down.

You will arrive at a dead end. Turn LEFT on San Elijo Ave.

At the first stop light, turn RIGHT onto Chesterfield.
-
Continue over the railroad tracks.
-
Turn LEFT onto Old Highway 101.
-
At the first LEFT Turn out is where you can enter the Day parking.
Otherwise continue on to the parking available on the side of Old Highway
101, either going NORTH or SOUTH.
From the South:
-
Take the I-5 NORTH.
-
Exit Birmingham.
-
Turn LEFT so you’re heading WEST.
-
Head up and over the hill and continue down.
-
You will arrive at a dead end. Turn LEFT on San Elijo Ave.

At the first stop light, turn RIGHT onto Chesterfield.
-
Continue over the railroad tracks.
-
Turn LEFT onto Old Highway 101.
-
At the first LEFT Turn out is where you can enter the Day parking.
Otherwise continue on to the parking available on the side of Old Highway
101, either going NORTH or SOUTH.
From Inland North County:

Take the 78 WEST.

Take the I-5 SOUTH.
-
Exit Birmingham.
-
Turn RIGHT so you’re heading WEST.

Head up and over the hill and continue down.

You will arrive at a dead end. Turn LEFT on San Elijo Ave.

At the first stop light, turn RIGHT onto Chesterfield.
-
Continue over the railroad tracks.

Turn LEFT onto Old Highway 101.
-
At the first LEFT Turn out is where you can enter the Day parking.
Otherwise continue on to the parking available on the side of Old Highway
101, either going NORTH or SOUTH.
*Please note: There a lot of
different ways to reach this spot by using side roads and other highways.
It’s all a matter of preference and accessibility. I've found these to be
the easiest and least confusing of the bunch. Enjoy!
