The Reef:
Like most beaches in the
surrounding Del Mar area, sand and small rocks can be found
under you while you enjoy your season. One thing to be sure
to watch out for is the occasional sand bar that builds up
during a larger swell.
Del Mar beaches are known
for their shifty sand bars that can not only create perfect
A Frame waves but become very shallow at times. Be sure to
keep an eye out for any surprises.
The Surf:
Best
Tide: Low to Medium tides.
Best
Swell Directing: South and Southwest swells during the
Summer months and the occasional Northwest can bring some
good surf.
Best
Winds: No wind is best but if any, a East wind will do
wonders.
Best
Size: Anywhere from 3 - 8 feet.
Best
Months to Catch it Going Off: Summer and the early
Winter months.
