Oceanside Pier Crowd and Culture
Oceanside is very involved
with surfing culture, from the surfer crossing signs to the
statue of a surfer right near the Oceanside Pier. Oceanside
is also home to the California Surf Museum located right off
of Old Highway 101, it's definitely something to check out.

An awesome statue located
inland from the Pier
Oceanside ifs a very
populated city with houses and apartments at every
corner so when the Oceanside breaks put out good surf,
expect a crowd! When a clean swell hits these sandbars, it
seems like everyone in a 10 mile radius flocks to the pier,
harbor and small streets in between. Even though it may seem
hopeless to find waves alone, don't give up because if you
park at Oceanside Blvd and walk South or North, there are
many peaks that only beach home owners have access too and
these breaks can fire just as good as anywhere else. When
the pier is firing it can produce waves that look like a
smaller Pipeline and with those clean and perfect waves
comes a crowd, give respect where respect is due and your
surfing experience should be awesome.
While Oceanside has it's
days of good surf, beware that most of the time, Oceanside
is blown, small and crowded. These beaches are very popular
for teenagers and families so parking is sometimes
impossible and after you find parking, you may be in the
lineup with 20 guys paddling for 2 foot slop. Oceanside,
like most other breaks has it's good days and it's bad days
so take the punches and keep moving on in search of that
perfect wave!
