Grandview Reef and Surf

The Beach
and surf on a small day at Grandview
The Reef:
The reef
at Grandview is a combination of large rocks covered with
moss and sea grass and sand. The reason Grandview has such
consistent waves on a good swell is because of the reef
layout. This break allows for a great variety of waves and I
highly recommend trying all the peaks out once!
Since
there is no Lifeguard on duty, please be careful out in the
water, respect the local surfers and you will get more waves
then you would if you paddled out with an attitude.
The Surf:
Best
Tide: Low to Medium.
Best
Swell Directing: West and Northwest swells but South
swells can also be very fun.
Best
Winds: No wind is best but if any, a East wind will do
wonders.
Best
Size: Anywhere from 2 - 8 feet.
Best
Months to Catch it Going Off: September through April
are the best months for clean and long walls, however,
Grandview can also be awesome on a clean South Swell.
There is
a variety of waves located at Grandview in Leucadia. From
fast inside sections to slower but still amazingly fun outer
sets, Grandview seems to pack it all into one fun spot.

A nice
set wave at Grandview
The main
peak at Grandview has a very clean and strong left and can
often link through the inside sections. If you get the
choose the wave correct, you could catch an awesome left
that will take you all the way into the beach. Grandview
consists of many different types of waves and depending on
what you like to surf, you should be able to find something
you like with almost no problem.
