Dog Beach Surf Spot
Not many beaches in
Southern California allow dogs on the beach but Dog Beach in
Del Mar is an exception. With many people attending this
beach everyday, it's a great place to spend a day with the
family and pets.
The surf at Dog Beach
isn't something that most people would consider "epic," however while
there with the family and pets, it's a fun place to paddle
around and catch a few fun waves.

The Parking Scenario:
Parking for Dog Beach can
be found along Old Highway 101 going South. On hot and
crowded days, parking can be a challenge so make sure to fit
that into your schedule.
The parking is pay only
with a cost of $2 per hour. When you park, make sure to
locate the pay meters which is where you can deposit you
cash and get your parking pass. Make sure to display your
parking pass on your dashboard to avoid any tickets or
fines.

Beach Accessibility and Conveniences:
The beach access is
extremely easy to find and is located to the North side of
the beach along the cliffs. The access is a dirt walkway
that meanders down to the actual beach.

Beach
There is a couple
of port-a-potties located at Dog Beach, the first is at the
entrance of the walkway and the other can be found along the
South side of the beach. They are maintained by the city and
are usually in decent shape.

Lifeguard:
There are lifeguard towers
located at Dog Beach. In fact, this portion of beach is
routinely patrolled by lifeguards in their vehicles. Please
take note that during the Winter months the lifeguard's
aren't in full effect and only work part time if at all.
During the hot Summer months, the lifeguards are open all
day, almost everyday. If you are there with family or by
yourself, take note if there is a guard in the tower to know
what to do in case of an emergency.
