Carlsbad Village Surf Spot
Restaurants, hotels, surf
shops and some of the best scenery in San Diego, what else
do you need? These breaks are right in the middle of
Downtown Carlsbad and just about everything you could
possibly need for a day at the beach can be found a block
inland from the coastline.
Although these breaks
might not have the best shape they can still offer a lot of
fun days at the beach!

Location:
The beach in downtown
Carlsbad is very accessible due to the fact that beach
access is abundant throughout the entire town. Carlsbad is a
small but plentiful town that seems to have just about
everything you need. Downtown Carlsbad is located just South
of Oceanside and is easily accessible by the 5 Freeway or
Old Highway 101.

The Parking Scenario:
There are only a few
designate parking lots around Carlsbad Village Drive. In
fact, it's safe to say that 90% of the parking can be found
along the streets, alleys and side streets in this area.
Please take caution when
parking and make sure not to block somebody's driveway or to
get stuck parking in a Fire Lane. Police officers routinely
are in the area and will not hesitate to cite you for doing
so. Other then that, find a spot and hit the surf!

Beach Accessibility and Conveniences:
Beach Access is very easy
to locate and access. There is a small set of stairs that
lead down to the beach and they are well maintained. The
beach access is directly in front of you as you are heading
West on Carlsbad Village Drive, you will see the handrails
and stairs. They are near impossible to miss.

the beach (Notice the words on the beach?)

There are no restrooms
located on or directly near the beach so come prepared. If
you walk back up the stairs and continue walking up Carlsbad
Village Drive and there are plenty of stores and restaurants
that I'm confident you could locate a restroom in.
Lifeguard:
There are lifeguard towers
that line the Carlsbad coast both North and South, there was
not a station at this beach access when we were there,
however they often move the towers back into place when the
Summer season hits. Make sure to note if there is a
lifeguard on duty and please be cautious either way out in
the ocean.
